· Established in 1982 by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce to provide a local event centered on patriotic and family entertainment.
· The concept of the festival started when a movie company came to the Chamber asking them to have a festival so they may use it as a backdrop for a movie. “Hot Heir” was eventually released as a 3-D movie but never made it to the local theaters.
· The event was managed by the Chamber until it was Incorporated in November 1986 as a 501(c)3 non-profit company.
The festival promotes affordable family fun, hot-air ballooning, patriotism, and tourism in the Upstate area, while raising money for local and regional charities.
