Freedom Weekend Aloft in Anderson, South Carolina, one of America’s greatest Memorial Day celebrations! Our next annual event promises to offer a non-stop, four day extravaganza for the whole family that keeps on getting better every year while raising money for local and regional charities.
Throughout the weekend the festival offers one hundred beautiful hot-air balloons competing daily, exciting concerts by the nation’s top entertainers, amusement rides, games, sponsor displays, children’s activities, skydivers, regional music stages, the US Disc Dog Freedom Weekend Nationals (Frisbee Dog Contest), great food and much, much more!
Established in 1982 by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce to provide a local event centered on patriotic and family entertainment. The concept of the festival started when a movie company came to the Chamber asking them to have a festival so they may use it as a backdrop for a movie. “Hot Heir” was eventually released as a 3-D movie but never made it to the local theaters. The event was managed by the Chamber until it was Incorporated in November 1986 as a 501(c)3 non-profit company.
The festival promotes affordable family fun, hot-air ballooning, patriotism, and tourism in the Upstate area, while raising money for local and regional charities.
