Lacrosse in partnership with Freedom Weekend Aloft is proud to feature the
sport of lacrosse to the fans of FWA! Over the course of two days, LAXINSTITUTE
Lacrosse will highlight the fastest growing team sport in North America and
allow athletes of every age the opportunity to experience first hand the sport
so many have come to love. With roots extending into the Native American
culture, the modern game of lacrosse emphasizes endurance, speed, and agility
to produce a fast paced, action packed, and spectator friendly experience. Come
see for yourself what may be the best kept sporting secret in South Carolina.

U-19 Girls Lacrosse Exhibition Games
Regional
women’s lacrosse club teams will be traveling to the Freedom Weekend Aloft
event to compete against the Upstate’s own Carolina Revolution U-19 Women’s
Lacrosse Club Team. In its third year of active competition, Carolina
Revolution is a competitive travel team comprised of high school aged girls who
are looking to expand their lacrosse skills while building new friendships and
foster their love for the game. The 2009 Carolina Revolution roster represented
over 50 members from 10 different South Carolina High Schools who competed in
over 30 games.
Games will
be held from approximately 10:30 am until 3:00 pm and will be under an hour in
length. Two fields of play will be running simultaneously providing plenty of
action.

LAX-FEST! - 12 Noon - 3 PM
LAXINSTITUTE
Lacrosse and Freedom Weekend Aloft will be opening the fields to lacrosse
athletes of all ages and abilities as well as to spectators with the purpose of
raising awareness of the sport as well as connecting members of the lacrosse
community.
For those
who have never experienced the sport, we will host a “Newcomers” tent where you
can learn the basics and have an opportunity to experience lacrosse first hand!
For more
experienced lacrosse athletes, bring your ‘A’ game as you test your abilities
in some fun lacrosse related events to include:
Fastest Shot...ever wonder what kind of power
you possess? Step in front of a radar gun and find out!
Accuracy Test...lacrosse for all of its power is
also a game of finesse. Do you have the skills to place the ball exactly where
you want it?
Run and Gun Shooting Challenge...lacrosse is after all a running
sport. Tighten your laces and showcase your speed, agility, and control!
Want to
support your local area high school booster programs? Bring an extra dollar or
two and take a shot at dunking a coach, alum...you never know who will be in
the chair. Proceeds collected will be directed to the local booster program of
your choice.
FILL THE HILL!
LAX-FEST
will conclude with an opportunity to show your support for the sport you love.
At 2:30 pm we request the presence of every lacrosse player we can gather on
the hill next to the field for a group picture. We want to show exactly how far
the sport has come and how much it has grown in recent years. We are looking
for all lacrosse players past, present, and future from youth to high school to
collegiate and beyond. Bring your stick, wear your swag and show your pride!
